Brick pavers don't fade like concrete — the color is baked into the clay forever. What you're seeing on your old brick driveway, patio, or walkway is decades of dirt, efflorescence, and weathering covering up a surface that's still beautiful underneath. We bring that color back, protect it for years, and keep the natural brick look intact.

Why Brick Pavers Restore Better Than Almost Any Other Surface
Brick pavers are fired in kilns at extreme temperatures, which locks the color all the way through the material. Unlike concrete pavers, brick doesn't lose its color to UV — what you see when brick looks "old" is just years of dirt, mineral buildup, and weathering on top of a surface that's still vibrant underneath. That's why a properly cleaned brick patio from 1985 can look better than concrete pavers from 2020.
Brick absorbs water, oil, sealer — basically everything — much faster than concrete pavers. This means stains soak in quickly if you don't have protection, but it also means the right sealer penetrates deep and bonds well. The flip side: cheap contractors often run out of sealer mid-job because they didn't account for how thirsty brick is. Half-sealed brick fails fast.
Brick is harder than travertine but its surface can still be eroded by aggressive pressure washing. Even more important: high-pressure spraying blows out the joint sand between brick pavers, opening up gaps for weeds and shifting. Rotary surface cleaners protect both the brick face and the joints.
This is the single biggest aesthetic mistake we see on Phoenix brick. Owners hire someone to seal their brick driveway, and the cheap sealer leaves the surface looking glossy, plasticky, or "wet" in a way that doesn't match what brick is supposed to look like. A natural matte penetrating sealer respects the classic look. A wrong sealer ruins it.
That white chalky haze you see on old brick is mineral salts pushing up through the porous surface — and brick gets it worse than most materials because of how absorbent it is. The right pre-treatment removes existing efflorescence; the right sealer keeps it from coming back.
If your brick is old, dirty, or covered in efflorescence — don't write it off. The underlying surface is almost always still beautiful. We just bring it back.
How We Restore Brick Pavers

Brick collects efflorescence, hard water deposits, organic growth, and decades of dirt. We pre-treat each issue with the right cleaner — never harsh acids that would damage the joint mortar or surrounding landscaping.

We use rotary cleaners with the right pressure for brick — enough to lift the buildup without eroding the surface or stripping the joint sand. Even cleaning, no zebra stripes, no joint damage.

Where joint sand has been stripped or washed out, we replace it with polymeric sand and activate it properly. This locks the brick pavers back together and keeps weeds from coming up through the joints.
What Service Do Your Brick Pavers Need?

A professional cleaning brings your brick back to its original color and removes years of efflorescence, dirt, and weathering. The most dramatic transformation you'll see on any paver surface.

Lock in the restored color, protect against efflorescence and stains, and keep your brick looking great for years. Includes full cleaning + penetrating sealer + joint sand replacement, all in one job.

Our full clean + seal package — the smartest move for old, weathered brick that hasn't been touched in years. Your brick driveway, patio, or walkway will look better than it has in decades.
In almost every case, restoration is absolutely possible — and dramatically cheaper than replacement. The color in brick pavers is baked all the way through the clay, which means even brick that looks dirty, stained, or covered in efflorescence is usually still beautiful underneath. A thorough cleaning followed by sealing brings back the original color and protects it for years. We've restored brick patios and driveways from the 70s and 80s that look better today than concrete pavers from 5 years ago. Send us photos and we'll give you a straight answer on whether your brick is a good restoration project.
Not the way we do it. The biggest mistake we see in Phoenix is contractors using a high gloss or solvent based wet look sealer on brick that wasn't built for it — leaving the surface looking plasticky, fake, or "wet" in a way brick is never supposed to look. We use a penetrating sealer that soaks into the porous brick, protects from within, and keeps the natural matte appearance. If you want a slightly richer finish that brings out the warm clay tones without making it glossy, we offer that option too — but the default for brick pavers is the natural look, every time.
Brick is significantly more porous than concrete pavers — meaning it absorbs sealer, water, and stains much faster. This affects almost everything about the job: how much sealer is needed (more), what type of sealer works best (penetrating, not film forming), and how the application is done. Cheap contractors use the same paver sealing approach on every surface and run out of sealer halfway through brick jobs — which is why you see so many half-sealed brick patios that fail within a year. We bring extra sealer, apply enough coats to fully protect the surface, and use products built specifically for how brick behaves.
That's efflorescence — mineral salts pushing up through the porous brick as moisture evaporates. Brick gets it heavier than most other pavers because it's so absorbent. The good news: efflorescence is removable with the right pre-treatment as part of a professional brick paver cleaning. The better news: sealing afterward keeps it from coming back. We've removed decades of efflorescence buildup from old Phoenix brick driveways and brought them back to their original color — it's one of the most satisfying parts of the job.
No. We use commercial-grade rotary surface cleaners with the right pressure for brick — enough to lift dirt and efflorescence without eroding the surface or stripping the joint sand. Cheap pressure washing with a regular wand can damage brick (and the joints), but proper power washing equipment cleans without harm. As for plants, we're careful with runoff, rinse landscaping with clean water before and after, and use cleaners that break down safely. We're not dumping harsh chemicals into your yard.
This is one of the most common issues with old brick installations — joint sand has washed out over the years, leaving open gaps where weeds, grass, mold, and organic growth can take hold. As part of our cleaning and sealing process, we remove existing weeds and debris, then replace the joint sand with polymeric sand. Polymeric sand hardens once activated and acts as a protective barrier against weed growth for years. Sealing over the top locks the sand in place. So yes — combined with re-sanding the paver joints, sealing dramatically reduces weeds and organic growth.
You're looking at 3–5 years of long lasting protection from a proper sealing job, depending on sun exposure, foot traffic, and weather conditions. High traffic areas like driveways and walkways may need re-sealing closer to the 3-year mark. Covered patios and protected areas can go longer. We back every sealing job with a 3-year written warranty — if anything goes wrong with the seal in that window, we come back and fix it. Once it's time to re-seal, the process is faster because the surface is already protected from deep staining.
Almost nothing — and that's the point of sealing. Sweep loose debris with a leaf blower or broom every few weeks, rinse with a garden hose if you want, and don't let oil or rust stains sit (clean them up sooner rather than later). Avoid harsh acidic cleaners, which can damage the joint mortar. That's basically it. Sealed brick pavers shrug off most of what Phoenix throws at them, which means the patio or driveway you just spent money restoring stays looking great with very little effort on your end.
Old brick that looks tired isn't tired — it's just covered up. Whether your brick needs a one-time cleaning, full sealing protection, or our complete restoration package, we'll quote you free, schedule fast, and treat your brick like the classic surface it is.
